Hike underneath the rail road bridge, upstream heading south.

The Carrizo is an immense wash, with many parallel drainages.
Hiking is easy, just explore the area, the plant life is sometimes unexpectedly good.

A side tour into a very rocky wash up the mountain range, follow it as long as you want.

Warning:

Shooting is allowed in parts of the area, so be careful. Watch out for off road vehicles of any kind.

How to get there:

Pass the Fish Creek wash and turn left on a dirt road parallel to a rail road track.
A short stretch of Anza Borrego Desert followed by BLM.
Follow this maintained road up to a rail road bridge and park. Maintained doesn't necessary mean good, it's bumpy at times and there is a stretch with soft sand.
4x4 highly recommended.
